hit like a ton of bricks, and Monaco herself intimated that the real story would be forthcoming.

As of yet she has not spilled the tea even though she vowed that she would talk about her departure after her final airdate.

In light of the news vacuum, social media conjectured about the reasons why Monaco was let go and some of daytime’s stars have had their say about the beautiful and talented actress.

Even Monaco’s mother posted an emotional tribute to her daughter’s time on the popular show and noted that her final day on set was just four days shy of her anniversary date. When Monaco departed GH she had filmed nearly 2,300 episodes.

General Hospital Spoilers – Why Did Kelly Monaco Leave GH?

Monaco played complicated character Sam McCall for 21 years on the ABC sudser. Sam had seen it all, from being a con artist and a detective, to becoming a mom and wife. The character was last involved with Dante Falconeri, portrayed by Dominic Zamprogna.

Last November Zamprogna spoke about Monaco’s exit to Soap Opera Digest. He said “I’ve found the greatest things in my life have come when it feels like a door is closing.” He added that he sympathized with Monaco’s situation: “I was really trying to emphasize that to her.”

Billy Flynn, who plays Chad DiMera on Peacock’s Days of Our Lives echoed that sentiment when he talked to Us Weekly during a fan event. He said that he thought “Kelly’s amazing, and she’s going to go on to another thing.”

As of yet Monaco has not indicated that she has signed with another soap, but there are tons of daytime fans who would follow her to whatever daytime drama she joined.

Another DOOL star, Martha Madison (Belle Black), doubled down on Flynn’s assessment of Monaco telling the outlet that she “would love to have her” on DOOL. She said of Monaco “Her fanbase is tried and true, and any show would be lucky to have them and her.”
