There will be a surprising split for Lauren Bolton and Max Turner on Coronation Street as she begins to stand trial.
Lauren is preparing for several days in court for the murder of Joel Deering, which came after she saved the life of Max.
Also juggling the responsibilities of raising her son Frankie, Lauren was torn regarding her plea, reasoning that a guilty plea could result in a reduced sentence. Max, however, implored her to fight for justice, eventually convincing her to plead not guilty.

Their relationship will become strained, however, with Wednesday’s (January 15) scenes seeing Max visit Lauren as she remains nervous about her impending trial. She expresses her nervousness regarding the prosecution, fearing that her character will be brought into question.
Max does his best to calm Lauren and look at the more positive side by reminding her what is at stake, though a realistic Lauren sees through his platitudes and calls for a more pragmatic approach as she acknowledges her life could soon change for the worse.
Anticipating a guilty verdict, Lauren tells Max to prioritise his own needs, urging him to put himself first, as he has a bright future. She subsequently takes the decision out of his hands as she tells him a break-up is for the best.
This leaves Max devastated – will he be able to convince Lauren to change her mind or are the pair over for good?

Whilst Lauren is preparing for a trial, it’s been a dramatic week for the ITV soap. Charlotte Jordan, who has played Daisy Midgeley since 2020, became the fourth actor – following Luca Toolan, Sue Cleaver and Colson Smith – to announce their departure this week.
“My time at Coronation Street is something I’ll always cherish,” she said in a statement. “After a brilliant four years for Daisy, it’s time for me to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities. It’s been a privilege to be part of a wonderful institution with even more wonderful colleagues who have taught me so much.”
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
