Fans of the popular Netflix series, Virgin River, are buzzing with predictions for season seven, despite some admitting it might be a bit of a stretch.

The show revolves around Mel Monroe (portrayed by Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse practitioner who relocates to the quiet town after experiencing a personal tragedy.

She quickly falls for local bar owner Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), but her life becomes complicated as she navigates his past and the issues of her endearing new neighbors.

One such neighbor is Muriel St Claire (Teryl Rothery), a retired actress who receives a heartbreaking cancer diagnosis in season six. Throughout recent episodes, Muriel embarks on a casual romance with the town’s new doctor, Cameron Hayek (Mark Ghanimé).

Their relationship nearly turns serious, but Cameron ultimately decides to leave Virgin River to reconnect with his former fiancée.

Despite confirmation that Ghanimé won’t return as a regular in season seven, fans are still hopeful for a reunion between him and Muriel.

“Before any finale, I would love to see Dr. [Hayek] find out that he can’t have children and he will come back to Muriel,” one fan speculated on Reddit recently, reports the Daily Record.

While such a revelation would undoubtedly be shattering for Cameron, it could prompt him to reconsider his engagement and return to support Muriel through her cancer battle.

Fans have really taken a shine to this on-screen duo, with many viewers sharing their desire for more.

One enthusiastic fan responded: “I know it’s highly unlikely, but I’d love to see Cameron come back to be with Muriel too. Loved your theory about how he’d return!”

Echoing the sentiment, another admirer posted separately: “Where can I file a petition for Muriel and Cameron to get together?

“Rewatching VR and I loved Muriel and Cameron’s relationship, can they get back together ASAP please? Thank you.”

In agreement, someone chimed in: “Yes, please!!! That would be wonderful… they’re already have a theme music, totally an endgame!! They need to be reunited again.”

The conversation didn’t stop there as the same fan speculated further: “Maybe he’ll do a guest appearance at the end of the next season and returns in season 8 (if we have a season 8)…

Despite fans’ wishes, Cameron may not be heavily featured in season seven, but showrunner Patrick Sean Smith hasn’t closed the door entirely.

In his conversation with Deadline, Smith stated, “Cameron will always be part of our world, and I would love to see his character come back again.”

However, he added, “[But] he unfortunately won’t be a series regular in season seven.”

While the fate of a Virgin River season eight on Netflix remains uncertain, the followers of Cameron and Muriel’s story are holding out hope that it’s not the end of the road for the pair.
