Home and Away 2025: Beloved Characters Return & New Faces Arrive!
Home and Away fans, the new year promises an exciting array of twists, as a mix of beloved characters return to Summer Bay, while new faces prepare to make their mark. After the buzz of last year, there’s even more drama on the horizon, and we’ve got all the details to get you ready for the upcoming action.
Dean Thompson and Ziggy Astoni, two fan favorites, will be returning to the show for a short stint in 2025, bringing plenty of excitement to the screen. Their return will feature special scenes filmed in tropical North Queensland, where they had relocated in 2023. While producers are staying tight-lipped about the reasons behind their reunion, they’ve teased that it’s all part of a top-secret storyline. Details of the return date are still under wraps, but TV Week has hinted that it will be a must-see event. Fans can expect drama, emotion, and suspense as Dean and Ziggy make their way back to Summer Bay.
But that’s not all—2025 is shaping up to be a year full of new arrivals. Get ready for a fresh group of River Boys and a new River Girl to stir things up. In a TikTok video posted back in October, actor Rob shared a clip with fellow actor Adam Peek, confirming that the River Boys are back. Fans were given a sneak peek when Mei Johnston spotted the filming of two new characters at Palm Beach. She later revealed in a Home and Away spoilers group that one of them appeared to be a River Boy, while the other was a River Girl.
In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Patrick O’Connor (who plays Dean) hinted at some classic River Boy action in the coming episodes, including road trips and more drama. A character named Lacy is set to be introduced in the first half of 2025, with an audition tape circulating that hints at her being the new River Girl. In the audition, Lacy is seen talking to a bad boy character who has just been released after a brawl. This character is reportedly planning a race day, but complications arise when one of the co-organizers punches a cop, adding to the tension.
Adding fuel to the fire, new River Boys are expected to include actor Tom Wilson, known for his role as Blake Goan on Home and Away in 2019. He was spotted filming in early October. Another exciting addition is actress Sophia Pennington, who has been followed by several cast members on Instagram, sparking rumors that she could be the new River Girl for Summer Bay.
Sadly, fans will have to say goodbye to another familiar face. Rose Delaney, played by Kirsty Marilia, is believed to have filmed her final scenes after being part of the show since 2022. A fan, Belinda Sinclair, witnessed Kirsty filming what appeared to be Rose’s departure scene. In it, Rose is seen driving out of the bay, with Irene Kirby and Bri running to her car. Irene hands Rose a leaving gift as Kirby shouts a farewell. The scene suggests that Rose will leave Summer Bay for a new job, having been promoted from Senior Constable.
Finally, another major development is the arrival of Harper and Tane’s baby. In the Australian season finale, Harper was preparing for surgery to save her and her baby’s life after a routine scan revealed a growth on his lung. Levi was understandably nervous about performing the risky operation for the first time. However, fans already know that Harper safely delivers their baby boy in November. During a recent visit to Palm Beach, fan Sara Gaye spotted Harper and Tane with their newborn at the coffee cart, smiling and playing with their son, who was in a baby buggy. It’s clear that despite the drama, Harper and Tane’s family is growing stronger.
With all these exciting returns and fresh faces arriving in 2025, Home and Away is ready to deliver more twists, turns, and unforgettable moments. Stay tuned as the new year kicks off with plenty of drama you won’t want to miss!
